Cook’s Late TD, Booker T.’s Missed FG Preserves Central’s Win

Posted in:

In a game with national implications, Miami Central got a late touchdown from running back James Cook – which put the Rockets ahead 19-10 – and its defense preserved the lead by partially blocking what would have been a go-ahead 37-yard field goal in the final minute to come away with a 19-17 victory over rival Miami Booker T. Washington Thursday night at Traz Powell Stadium.

There’s no rest for the Rockets, who improve to 2-0 on the season. Miami Central will travel to Las Vegas to face nationally-rated powerhouse Bishop Gorman next week in addition to having Sept. 22 trip to Bradenton, Florida to face nationally ranked IMG Academy.
